About Dr Mark Mason
Dr Mark Mason is a consultant cardiologist based in London.
He qualified in medicine at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School (now part of Imperial College London), then went on to complete cardiology training with the London Deanery. He has been a consultant cardiologist since 2001, leading the pacemaker and implanted cardiac device service for fifteen years.
A regular member of faculty at national and international meetings. He has been a specialist adviser to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) on the use of laser sheaths in pacing lead extraction.
He has extensive experience in the assessment and management of patients requiring, or with pacemakers of all types, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs), and Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy (CRT). He is also experienced in the developing technique of Conduction System Pacing (CSP).
He has a keen interest in sports cardiology- both professionally and as an athlete himself- including screening for the risks associated with participation in endurance sport, particularly in older athletes.
